MA Dance Teacher '20

It has been one year since you graduated from the MA Dance Teacher Programme at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden. What have you been up to over the last year?
While completing my MA Dance Teacher diploma at Palucca University of Dance Dresden in 2020, I was already engaged as Co-Director/Rehearsal Director and as in-house choreographer at the Tanz Theater Pforzheim.
I am still enjoying this wonderful position and my responsibilities. If time permits, I also work as a freelance guest-lecturer and give trainings and workshops for various dance companies, dance institutions and dance schools.

How has the Palucca University of Dance Dresden – and its network and community – helped you in the career path you have chosen as an artist?
The lecturers/trainers, who imparted their enormous amounts of knowledge both in theory and in practice in the studio, were most helpful and inspirational. The Palucca University of Dance Dresden library is a gold mine. I used this richly inspirational resource intensively.
Generally speaking, the University has collected an enormous amount of knowledge and information on dance.

Looking back at your time at the university, what are some of your fondest memories?
When I think back, I enjoyed the time spent with several of the trainers in the studio. But also the time spent in the library - it was wonderful to explore it and discover.

If you could go back in time, what would you tell your younger self on your first day at Palucca?
It is worth it - enjoy it once in a while as well! And stay on schedule!

Is there any piece of advice you would like to share with our current students and fresh graduates?Keep the child in you alive in spirit. Remain curious, playful, open, alert, honest and down to earth. Above all, enjoy dancing - it is such a gift to be able to do this in our profession every day.
