Profile

The work-study MA Dance Teacher Programme is directed towards professional dancers and dance teachers seeking to further their skills as dance teachers, ballet masters/rehearsal directors, working in professional training institutions, community dance or in dance companies and theatres. The specialisation "Dance Teacher for Community Dance" offers an opportunity for candidates without a professional dance career if an equivalent aptitude is proven.

Students opt for a focus in Ballet or Contemporary/Modern Dance and a specialisation as Ballet Master/Rehearsal Director, Dance Teacher in professional training or in Community Dance. The Master Dance Teacher is an interdisciplinary course and the subjects include dance pedagogy, methodology and didactics, dance history, dance medicine, psychology, teaching practice, rehearsal assistance, improvisation, laban and composition.

Unique

...is the opportunity, with a student population of around 150 dancers from age 10 to 20, to work and explore processes with the dancers in training at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden who are fluent in ballet, contemporary and improvisation. A crosspollination between the Teacher Training and the Choreography Programme is emphasised in the profile of the University. Due to a multitude of partnerships, the Palucca University of Dance has a global artistic network.

Get to know us! The Virtual Master Information Day for the Dance Teacher Master's programme will take place on 22 January 2024.
