Wi-Fi Access at Palucca University
Target Group: All University Members
Palucca University offers several Wi-Fi networks (SSIDs):
- eduroam
- PHfT-intern
- PHfT-OS
- PHfT-Gast
Below you will find information on how to select the appropriate Wi-Fi network and how to configure it.
eduroam
Our students have the option to use the Wi-Fi network named eduroam. This network is provided in cooperation with the German Research Network (DFN). Using eduroam has the advantage that it can also be used at other universities and institutions, both domestically and internationally, that offer eduroam.
Connection to the eduroam network is done via the Easyroam app. Select "Palucca 日博体育 für Tanz Dresden" as the organization. Use your Palucca account as login credentials. For older operating systems (older than iOS 13 or Android 10), as well as macOS, watchOS, and ChromeOS, there is no app available. You can still use eduroam on these systems, but manual configuration is required. Please generally follow the instructions below for all operating systems.

Important: During the eduroam setup, you need an internet connection, e.g., via mobile data on smartphones or at home using your private Wi-Fi. If neither is possible, please contact the Organization/IT Department. We will provide you with temporary internet access for the time of profile installation.

How long is an eduroam profile valid on my device?
Please note that connection profiles created following the above steps have a limited validity of 6 months. Therefore, you should renew these profiles shortly before they expire in the Easyroam app. The Easyroam app for Android and iOS will remind you in advance via push notification. For macOS, Windows, and Linux devices, we recommend setting a manual reminder in your calendar.
How many devices can be set up with Easyroam simultaneously?
Easyroam allows a maximum of five devices to be connected to eduroam at the same time. This limit is set by the DFN and cannot be changed by us. If you have devices that no longer need eduroam access, you should revoke the connection profile for those devices in the Easyroam app. This can also be done from other devices where Easyroam is installed and configured, e.g., via the Easyroam portal: https://easyroam.de
What can I do if I have connection problems?
If you experience connection issues, it may help to reinstall the connection profile via the Easyroam app. You can find this option under the "Reinstall" button in the profile management within the app.
If this does not solve the problem, try creating a new connection profile by clicking the "Request new" button.
For operating systems without the Easyroam app, this simple option is not available. In such cases, a new connection profile can only be created by reconfiguring and deleting the old profile beforehand. If these steps do not help, please contact the Organization/IT Department.
PHfT-OS
The Wi-Fi network PHfT-OS is intended exclusively for the school's own tablets and interactive whiteboards at the high school and provides internet access. All tablets and interactive whiteboards automatically connect to this network. If this is not the case, please contact the Organization/IT Department.

PHfT-intern
The Wi-Fi network PHfT-intern is the preferred mobile network access for all staff members using laptops and MacBooks managed by the university. It provides the most comprehensive access to internal resources and the internet. This includes access to network drives, printers, the time tracking and workflow system, as well as other services used exclusively for internal specialist applications and administrative purposes. Our Windows laptops and Apple MacBooks, which are issued exclusively to staff, automatically connect to the PHfT-intern Wi-Fi network.
eduroam
Our staff members also have the option to use the Wi-Fi network named eduroam for both work and private devices. This network is provided in cooperation with the German Research Network (DFN). The advantage of using eduroam is that it can also be used at other universities and institutions, both in Germany and abroad, that offer eduroam. Note: Internal resources (network drives, printing services, etc.) are not available via eduroam — it is strictly an internet connection.
